I have now developed my first major issue with the series. It's the fact that Olaf's tattoo changes as the series' progresses.
At first, it appears like this:
Then, when the children discover that the eye actually has V.F.D. hidden in it, it changes to this:
But the original tattoo shows no signs of V.F.D. at all and the second tattoo hardly resembles the first.
Is this because Handler developed the V.F.D. theory later and thus the first description to Helquist of the tattoo was different? Because a tattoo can't change.
Can anyone give me an explanation? It would be greatly appreciated.
